About Global Value Chains and Climate Change
Running from 2021 to 2025, this collaborative study, involving Copenhagen Business School, Aalborg University, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at BRAC University, Ethical Trade Denmark, and the Danish Fashion and Textile, seeks to bridge global value chain and climate change analysis by generating new insights into:
- the actors pushing for decarbonization and value chain resilience;
- the drivers and barriers to their engagement;
- the scope of their practices, experimentation, and collaboration;
- and the consequences for economic, social, and environmental upgrading.
The research explores the garment and textile industries’ activities in Europe and South Asia through focusing on two components:
- Connections between climate change and garment GVCs linking Bangladesh to Europe
- Textile recycling in South Asia with case studies of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh
